A Smarter Security Experience for The Vermont on Cairnhill  

The Vermont on Cairnhill in Singapore is an exclusive luxury residential complex located just moments from the iconic Orchard Road, one of the city’s most sought-after destinations for shopping, dining, and lifestyle. 

Developed in 2014 by Bukit Sembawang View Pte Ltd, the site features three 20-storey towers comprising 158 apartments. Residents enjoy premium shared spaces including a spa, tennis court, swimming pools, and recreational areas designed for comfort and wellbeing. 

The landscaping was a major focus of the project, designed to blend seamlessly with the contemporary architecture. Lush greenery extends across the façades, while water features and vertical gardens surround the pool areas, creating a modern, sustainable environment that complements the urban surroundings. 

In 2025, the client selected Comelit South East Asia to upgrade the entire security infrastructure. The new system includes a full IP door entry solution paired with an advanced Comelit PAC access control system, chosen for its reliability, performance, and high level of protection. 

Comelit Solutions Installed 

Ultra Entrance Panels 

Fifteen Ultra entrance panels were installed across the main access points. With a refined design and premium materials, they integrate seamlessly with the architecture. Features include virtual access keys (including temporary keys), code-based entry, and intuitive call management—ensuring secure and efficient access for residents and visitors. 

LOGOS Wi-Fi 

All 158 apartments were fitted with LOGOS Wi-Fi video monitors, enabling residents to receive video calls directly on their smartphones and respond remotely from anywhere. Integration with voice assistants and built-in facial recognition provides a smart and secure experience. 

2-Door Access Control Units 

For access control, 15 PAC 512 DCi two-door controllers were installed and connected to readers and door hardware. The system enables alarm management, door unlocking, and real-time event reporting to the PAC Access Central software. Automatic notifications in the event of faults allow proactive monitoring and uninterrupted operation. 

HF Readers 

The access control infrastructure includes 22 PAC high-frequency readers, designed for maximum security and durability, particularly when paired with PAC Ops credentials. 

Hybrid IP and 2-Wire Video Door Entry: The Ideal Solution for Large Residential Developments 

To meet the technical requirements of the site, Comelit provided a hybrid solution that combines the flexibility of IP technology with the installation advantages of the 2-Wire system. 

The 2-Wire system reduces installation complexity, while IP expands scalability- imposing no limits on distances or the number of connected devices. This hybrid setup handles simultaneous calls from multiple entrance panels with strong audio and video performance, while working seamlessly alongside the existing security system. 

By leveraging the existing IP network, the system fully complied with the project’s timeline and allowed the creation of a scalable, upgradeable, and future-ready security solution.

In a luxury environment such as The Vermont on Cairnhill, it was essential to deploy an access control system capable of managing permissions securely while safeguarding residents’ privacy.

Type of Integration: Thermal Monitoring

Description: PAC’s long-standing tradition of security integration is now extended to the Dahua Temperature Monitoring Terminal, which has functionality to check a person’s temperature and determine if a face mask is being worn when entering a building or area. The ability to secure the building and protect the occupants is a true value add for customers planning strategies in times when minimising the risk of infection and preventing the spread of the virus are critical. The recommended means of installation ensures that access rights for individuals can be dynamically managed. Taking an output from the Dahua Thermal Monitoring Terminal into the PAC access control system will withdraw access rights for anyone who does not meet the user configured thresholds.

This integration, with one of the UK’s leading T&A providers allows any of our customers – new or future – to use the access events collected by Access Central to be used in calculating time spent on site or specific areas by their employees.  Previously, customers might have installed dedicated readers to collect this type of information which increased cost and provided a poor UX for their staff, as they would have had to present either the same or a different credential to two different readers.  Now that Thinking Software have integrated with Access Central, the RotaOne software can be configured to use existing readers which are managing access to the building as clocking points, resulting in an improved UX for their staff and reducing the cost of collecting this important information.  The solution is Cloud based and includes many features which normally are not included in a standard T&A solution such as Staff Annual Leave Planner and Staffing Level’s which supports Martin’s Law.   Additionally, Access Central has for many years included a complex Muster reporting function and with this integration they could also use Thinking Software’s own Roll Call solution with App allowing people to be accounted for without the need for dedicated Muster Readers.
